Clinical work

Balance training
One of CAREN’s big advantages is it's capability to give feedback on a patient's motion in real-time
(< 0.04 sec!). This feedback cannot be reached today, using conventional therapeutic sessions, because a therapist is not fast enough to spot, register and give feedback to the patient.
Sometimes the patient’s motions are so slight that the therapist can't perceive, because of human limitations. CAREN can then get, register and give feedback of even the slightest movements performed by a patient. Making the patient and the therapist aware of inefficient motion, and correct it during the session.
This is particularly important when dealing with balance training with orthopedic patients that have undergone amputation or another trauma that inhibited normal balance control and compensation strategy. CAREN is used extensively with these populations at SHEBA  ISRAEL, BAMC USA,and at MRC Doorn NL .  Another CAREN clinical system for this usage is being currently installed at WALTER REED USA Army hospital in Washington DC.

Gait and Locomotion training and rehabilitation
Gait training is by nature an intellectual process. A therapist evaluates the performance of a patient and verbally recommends improvements. The patient interprets the therapist's input and acts towards achieving the targets set by the therapist.
CAREN changes this training process from a cognitive process to a physical process by putting the patient in a situation where he feels physically what the therapist means.  CAREN captures the patient’s movements on the system and intervenes by presenting the patient an active ground that comes to meet the foot on the correct vector. The patient feels physically what the optimal gait curve should be.

This applies to CAREN system configurations that include an instrumented self paced treadmill and to the V-Gait system variants.

Sports
Human performance enhancement is perceived in the same way for “below” and “above” the line people. In the
same way that CAREN can assist in rehabilitation of a trauma patient to reach a new optimum, it can also assist a top athlete in improving gait and locomotion and reaching optimal and efficient motion curves in walking and running. CAREN can also enhance balance in various sports where balance plays an important role (For example Weight lifting)
